  2. Subject: Mods for Alinco DJ560 Dual band portable
  3.  
  4. The following modification to the Alinco DJ-560-T will enable it to xmit
  5. out of band.  Rumor:  may also enable cross-band repeat.
  6.  
  7.  1. Turn power off.
  8.  2. Remove battery.
  9.  3. Unscrew stainless steel battery connector plate.  This is the rectangular
  10.     s/s plate found at the bottom of the unit and is held in place with (4)
  11.     small chromed, phillips head screws.
  12.  4. Remove Antenna.
  13.  5. Unscrew the one black head, phillips head screw found immediately adjacent
  14.     to the BNC.
  15.  6. Carefully remove the grey DIAL, UHF and VHF plastic knobs.
  16.  7. Unscrew the lock ring nuts that are found under each of the three sets
  17.     of knobs.
  18.  8. Gently remove the plastic top cover on the unit.
  19.  9. Unscrew the (4) black head phillips screws that hold the body halves
  20.     together.
  21. 10. Place the unit face down on a work surface that is covered with a towel
  22.     or a similar soft cloth.  This will protect the unit from being marred
  23.     while you work on it.
  24. 11. Gently separate the two body halves about 1/2" to 3/4".
  25. 12. Cut the ORANGE wire loop and reseal the exposed ends with heat shrink
  26.     tubing.
  27.     (NOTE: if your DJ-560T is serial numbered from #0636-0705, the loop will
  28.            be YELLOW in color!  However which ever the color, cut only the
  29.            loop!  It will be the only loop to be found!)
  30. 13. Reassemble the unit in the reverse order of the above instructions.
  31. 14. Reset the CPU by holding the 'F' key (above the PTT key) down and turning
  32.     on the unit.

  34. This mod was supplied by a major amateur radio dealer.  Several have tried it
  35. and it works.  One caution:  The black screws that hold the back on are *real*
  36. cheeeep.  Use a screw driver of exactly the right size or you're likely to
  37. strip the heads.
